OUR THANKS GO TO…
Sharlaine and Jill from the Body Shop who came along and talked to us about the body shop and it’s philosophy and their products. How sell sustainable and fair trade products, are environmentally active. It was very interesting to hear about all the different things they do for the community like coming to talk to us, taking part in sponsored walks for various charities. We also got a very nice hand massage using a very yummy hand cream called ‘Africa Spa’. So all in all a very enjoyable evening was had by all.

We’ve been asked by several people if it would be possible to change the coffee & chat, time and day to a Friday at 11am. If anyone has any objections please let us know as soon as possible, if no objections then we will change it, but don’t worry I’ll let you all know in good time about any changes.

The following email was sent to me by wonderful Sally D who has gone to the UK to see her family, flying Business to Hong Kong and then First Class to London no less!! (Thanks to her brothers frequent flyer points).
I’m not sure when she will be back she thought all going well with her health she’d be away for a month.

“Hi Jane, in my search for travel insurance I found the following insurer who does insure certain cancers, unfortunately not mine. Cover- Moore - www.covermore.com.au the clause was for "breast/prostate/kidney/bowel/colon - If you were diagnosed over 6 months ago, have not had any chemotherapy or radiotherapy in the last six months, your cancer has not spread beyond the primary site at any time and your journey is less than 6 months.  In respect of prostate cancer you must also have a psa of 10 or less." (Not that the last sentence is relevant immediately to us.  Someone might have a husband or partner who wants to travel.)

And if you are not sure you can go on to the web and filling out pre existing condition and they assess you.  The more I went into the questionnaire I thought "Jesus, I wouldn't insure myself in a pink fit".
So in the end I didn't send it, especially after reading the above again. But I thought it could go in the newsletter.”

While on the subject of travel I found this information, if any of you need to travel with needles and medication like I will in Nov when I go to the UK. It is important to confirm the actual temperature range that your particular meds can be kept at, and for how long. Best person is your Dr, you can also get valuable info from Travel Clinics Aust at www.travelclinic.com.au  If you need to keep the meds cool or just safe if temp is not an issue then a cooler container is apparently available from Diabetes Australia who have good thermo seal-type containers so check out  www.diabetesaustralia.com.au  Also it is a very good idea to contact the airline you are flying with to find out if they have any particular restrictions or requirements i.e. documents demonstrating your need for the meds/needles and always declare everything at the security screening point.

Treasure  this day, and treasure yourself.
